Purpose: The overall purpose for this position to provide management, organization and administration services to the school in order to create a productive disciplined learning environment.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Center Management
  • Review curriculum to maintain/raise school standards, supervise day to day school operations, manage school transport, Check on school quality standards on daily basis; Receive parent concerns and act/escalate to management; develop and spearhead school calendar; Staff management including staff capacity building
  1. Class room Instruction
  • Develop and implement child development activities in line with the ECD curriculum for young children ; Provide individualized support to learners; Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans for her/his class; Material development; prepare and administer learner assessments; keep proper and accurate learner records; Ensure proper and efficient management of all classroom learning materials

 

  1. School Marketing and Public relations
  • Advise school management on effective marketing approaches; Promote the school’s reputation as an outstanding school; Encourage enrollments for all learner levels; Enhance and protect the school brand as that of high integrity and educational excellence; promote the school on the net, social networking sites, generally

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience
  2. Must have good working knowledge of CBC and Montessori curricula
  3. Minimum qualification is Diploma in ECDE
  4. Must have a TSC number
  5. Must have Leadership experience in previous school/s.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Class room Instruction
  • Develop and implement child development activities in line with the ECD curriculum for young children
  • Provide individualized support to children at the center.
  • Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans for curriculum implementation
  • Material development
  • Keep proper and accurate records and use them appropriately to identify areas of weakness/strengths and offer the necessary support to learners

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with other classroom teachers, school psychologists, learning disabilities specialists, speech/hearing specialists, and school social workers to provide an integrated plan for developing the capacities of their students.
  • Set learning goals for each student, assess their progress, and record their evaluations.
  • Update parents on the progress of their students and enlist parental support with behavior control and home activities designed to supplement their classroom lessons.
  • Supervise and train teaching assistants.
  • Help plan for the transition of their students to productive lives after the completion of their secondary education.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Education: A Diploma in SNE or a bachelor’s degree in special education.
  • Experience: 2-3 years working experience in a school set up with children with special education.

 

Special Education Teacher Skills & Competencies

There are many skills specific to special education teachers, including empathy, patience, and organization.

  • Critical-thinking skills: A special education must accurately assess students’ progress and adjust lessons to their needs.
  • Patience: These students often require different methods of instruction and aren’t always immediately responsive to receiving it
  • Communication skills: These teachers must be able to communicate with parents, other teachers, and administrators, in addition to the children under their supervision.
  • Innovation: Not every one of these children can be taught in the same way. A good special education teacher will be able to conceive of different ways of reaching students and guiding them to progress.
